Come di certo non può temere il Bruges, grande sorpresa di questa prima fase ma ampiamente alla portata degli azzurri.
INTER-CONTE, CI SI RIVEDE? – Avendo chiuso al 2° posto nel girone C, l’Inter troverà nel sorteggio di lunedì alle 12 una delle vincenti degli altri gruppi. Tutti nomi che fanno tremare i polsi, ma di sicuro quelle che li fanno tremare meno sono le squadre portoghesi, il Porto e il Benfica, con cui di certo la squadra di Inzaghi avrebbe buone chance di passare il turno. Decisamente più difficili sarebbero gli incroci col Real Madrid, campione in carica e mai un buon cliente nella fase a eliminazione, e con le inglesi, Manchester City (su tutte), Chelsea e Tottenham, anche se l’incrocio con l’ex Antonio Conte sarebbe affascinante. Gli Spurs hanno faticato e sono arrivati primi soltanto al 95′ dell’ultima partita, con loro i nerazzurri se la giocano alla pari.
MILAN, INCUBO REAL, BAYERN E CITY – Avendo chiuso al 2° posto il girone E, il Milan troverà nel sorteggio di lunedì alle 12 una delle vincenti degli altri gruppi e per i rossoneri il discorso è molto simile a quello fatto per l’Inter. Porto e Benfica sono le avversarie più abbordabili per i rossoneri, che però arriveranno a lunedì con gli incubi Real Madrid, Manchester City e anche Bayern Monaco, che ha chiuso a punteggio pieno il girone dell’Inter. Anche per il Milan possibile e forse augurabile incrocio con il Tottenham agli ottavi di finale.
COME FUNZIONA IL SORTEGGIO? Come detto, partecipano 16 squadre: le teste di serie con le otto vincitrici dei gironi e le non teste di serie con le otto seconde classificate. Nessuna squadra può affrontare una squadra già affrontata ai gironi o proveniente dalla stessa nazione. Le teste di serie giocano in trasferta l’andata e in casa il ritorno. Come già da una stagione: ai fini della successiva qualificazione non vale più la regola del gol doppio in trasferta.
QUANDO SI GIOCA? Le partite di andata sono previste per martedì 14, mercoledì 15, martedì 21 e mercoledì 22 febbraio (due match in ognuno dei giorni). Quelle di ritorno sono in programma martedì 7, mercoledì 8, martedì 14 e mercoledì 15 marzo (due match in ognuno dei giorni). Tutte le partite iniziano alle ore 21.
