L’Uefa starebbe infatti lavorando alla creazione di un nuovo torneo prestagionale per club, un quadrangolare che dovrebbe svolgersi attorno a metà agosto negli Stati Uniti e coinvolgere la vincitrice della precedente Champions League, oltre ad altri tre top club. Cambierebbe, inevitabilmente, anche il format della Supercoppa, per la quale andrebbero a sfidarsi le vincitrici di Europa League e Conference League. Tutto questo a partire dal 2024.
L’indiscrezione arriva dalla Francia e a riportarla è l’Equipe, che ha visionato il bando inviato alle emittenti televisive per il triennio 2024-2027, quello in cui partirà il nuovo format della Champions a 36 squadre. Il rinnovato torneo potrebbe dunque essere anticipato da una mini competizione estiva, composta da due semifinali, una finale e una finale terzo-quarto posto, tutte in gara secca: “È un’idea presente nel bando, ma nulla è stato deciso”, ha ammesso una fonte Uefa ad Afp.
